Hello Millennials of the internet. let’s be honest only Millennials will know the term “pick me” unless you’re a nosey or ” concerned ” parent who heard your child/ children saying this term and ya wanna know what it means. Anyways let’s get into this I have quite a few things to say and I absolutely don’t want to see anybody in the comments calling me a Bloody pick me for speaking my fucking opinion. I hope you get A’s on all your exams or you get a promotion at work.
First off I don’t like the term ” PICK ME” better yet I don’t like that the term is being used a lot and loosely. To me the phrase PICK ME is talking about an attention seeker or someone that’s dramatic or does unnecessary things to get approval or gain attention from other people. People literally uses this phrase for any and everything and that is my problem.
For example You disagree on a topic that most other person’s agree on. You know how the colour pink is a ” gender ” colour as well as blue, imagine a GIRL says they don’t REALLY like pink, they key word here is really, the girl didn’t say she hated or despised pink, or in some sense degraded or disrespected people that actually like the color. So why call her a pick me. This all ties back into BLOODY stereotypes, which are very updated and very judgmental and I think it’s completely unnecessary because everybody is different in their own way. The term pick me is mostly used towards girls. I found a spotify playlist titled ” Pick me girls ” and I compiled some TikTok videos on this topic that will be below which you can check out.
I Couldn’t really find people actually talking about this topic seriously but only them reenacting scenarios that they thick would represent “PICK ME ” girls. Sometimes the people who call other people PICK MES are the pick mes and they’re probably just jealous or envious of bad person. Let us look at the definition of pick me up from Urban Dictionary – A pick me is a woman that is willing to do anything for male approval. She will embarrass or throw other women under the bus to achieve this goal. The unfortunate thing about a pick me is usually the men they are trying to seek approval from are of poor quality and treat women badly, leaving little real benefit for the pick me. Pick me: If a man cheats on you, it’s probably because you your fault. Be feminine! Make him food! Clean his ass hole!

My definition is a bit different from Urban dictionary’s but they ave similar concepts. I would love to hear you thoughts especially from a person who has been called a pick me.
