Helloooo Wonderful people of the internet today we’re discussing The bad stigma around periods. We all know that the public < or people in general > like to avoid the topic. As always tell me your thoughts and stories in the comments. Anywayssss let’s start our discussion.

What is menstruation < period > ? This is the process when you bleed through your vagina for a couple of day each month. This process get’s rid of the buildup in the lining of your uterus. If you don’t know what a period is click here to read more about it.

Us as a general public should normalize talking about periods. A part of our population goes through them and they should know what to do when they start getting their menstrual cycles. People like to be grossed out about things our bodies do, but it’s our bodies and what they do, shouldn’t disgust us. It’s a natural thing.

Parents < SOME, i said some > make it awkward when talking about these things to their children, some parents won’t even talk to their children about things like periods, sex, stds. But in this day and age kids don’t even need to hear about these things from their parents because they’re showed on social platforms, they can hear about these things at places they go like school. < Parents, there is a chance your kids already know about these things, they just pretend not to because society shames these things, even tho everybody goes through. >

Let’s talk about how society makes people think that the changes and process our bodies go through are gross and nasty. Even though no one said these things we all go through are disgusting, people make it out to seem like that, they make these topics awkward. When periods are brought up, people act like it’s some shameful act when it’s really just a natural process.

Menstruation stigma is a form of misogyny. Negative taboos condition us to understand menstrual function as something to be hidden, something shameful. And by not naming a thing, we reinforce the idea that the thing should not be named.– Clue

Clue – the period app has an article about the taboo, stigma on periods. Click here to see that article.

Women experience a lot of pain during having their periods and people < i say people because women also do this to other women> like to throw this in their face and say something like, ” Are you behaving like a bitch, because it’s that time of the month?” or they’ll be like ” is it that time of the month,” because a woman said something they didn’t agree with, or she’s being a little moody. But not all cultures and society treat periods in a bad way. Click here to read an article about that.

In our world today, schools are making more of an effort to teach students about these “taboo” topics. which I guess helps get rid of the bad stigma around them. Its important for girls < not only girls but boys, because they do go through changes as well> to know what’s going on with their bodies, and if they don’t that can cause a serious issue.

Why is it important for girl to learn about Menstruation, periods?

menstruation is a sign that the body is now able to conceive a baby. It is also important to talk to children about sex because to make a baby you have to have sex. when a girl starts getting her period she’s able to carry a baby, so If she has sex with a male, then she can become pregnant especially if she’s ovulating, Ovulation happens when your egg is released from your ovaries. Ovulation occurs 12 to 14 days before your next period starts.

So If a girl and a boy has no knowledge of this and they adhere to the desire that comes with puberty and have sex, without protection of course because they don’t know anything about sex then the girl can get pregnant and that ladies and gentle men is teen pregnancy. That is also the reason why teen pregnancy is so common, because they give into the sexual desire they feel, when they don’t have any knowledge about it.

Some parents also refuse < probably until late > to tell their children how babies are made, and that also relates to sex and periods. The child will probably hear about it from a classmate who’s parents have told them about it, but they might not have enough information to know what to do in a certain situation. So many accidents can be avoided if these topics weren’t considered taboo subjects. Click here to see facts about teen pregnancy. Click here to read an article about teen pregnancy.

So what really am I saying? What’s my point? My point is that we can’t be ashamed to talk about these topics < periods, sex, e.t.c > for it is important people, especially children know about them and how it affects their bodies. If they don’t then it will cause a lot of problems for them. So normalize talking about the natural process our bodies go through.
