Things you need to know when creating a website

Writer's picture: EllallriauEllallriau

Hola everyone. So I have made websites in the past, I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube videos and done a ton of research therefore In this article I will be putting together everything you need to know in one place just to make it easier for you.

The first thing You need to know is what platform you will be using for Your website. Down below are the website builders I would recommend.

  1. WordPress – has free options

  2. Weebly – has free options

  3. Wix – has free options

  4. Square Space – paid

  5. Shopify – mainly for a business, paid but has a 14 day trial

Now for the ones with free options, you will eventually feel like you have to pay if you want certain features or just other features that will make your website much better.

One of the most important things you have to do when you build your website is to have it in the Google Search Console. < there are other search engines that you can add as well like Bing . > Below are some videos that will help you to do this.

For WordPress

For Weebly

For Wix

For square space < Keep in mind I don’t use Squarespace>

For Shopify < Keep in mind I don’t use Shopify >

Don’t forget that Google Analytics go hand in hand with The Search Console but it is not mandatory.

GOOGLE ADDS

When you have a Website you’re able to get Google AdSense. This means you can get paid by adding Adds to your website. < Don’t be too disappointed when you’re not earning a big amount in a short amount of time. > On some websites you have to have the paid version to be able to use Google Adsense.

HOW TO GET ATTRACTION FOR YOUR WEBSITE

When promoting your website Social Media is Key. I recommend making separate social media accounts just for your website but from time to time you can promote your content on your personal accounts if you want. Social media platforms such as YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, Tumblr, Reddit, Twitter and Snapchat are essential. Using #s on these platforms is a must. Where you can add links always do so.

Using all of these social media platforms to constantly and consistently promote your content drives massive traffic to your website. Also using search engine optimization < SEO > is necessary. This is how the search engines use keywords to help to push your content to people who are looking for things that are related to your content. SEO is important for people to find you while searching for things.

CONTENT

Before making your content I recommend recommend playing around with your website building platform. Get use to the different elements and things you can do. Things like creating polls, adding spacers and different fonts.

For people to be enticed by your website it has to look good, easy to use, has helpful content and a good layout. So like adding pretty images as your page covers, having cool looking fonts as your headings and titles, making sure that the colours of your website go together and aren’t chaotic.

The more you update your website the better your content quality gets because you know what things look nice and clean. Look at other websites to get inspiration.

Having a mailing list is something you’ve probably never thought about. But If you use website builders like WordPress and Wix you don’t necessarily have to worry about that. < Mailing lists are the people that you send emails to about your content. > If the website host / builder you’re using doesn’t send emails notifying the people that are subscribed to your website then you most definitely need a mailing list. If your website regular viewers aren’t getting notified when you make a new post then you’re losing out opportunities for more traction on your posts.

I suggest using Mail Chimp for creating your mailing list. It is free for 2000 members but if you have more you will have to pay for it.

You can ask me questions you have in the comments. If you found this article helpful give it a like and you can share it if you want to. Have a Wonderful Day. Byeeeee.
