I finally open my eyes, and I swallow harshly, there is a slight nervousness that is bubbling in the pit of my stomach. All that is chanting in my brain is – “Don’t look down!”
I continue to walk the narrow edge of the concrete below me. I am so hyper-aware of everything I can hear the light patter of my feet on the fragile concreate.
I know fragile is not the word to describe concrete but it feels so. As I could fall off at any point.
My brain is filled up with images of me flat on the ground bleeding out as I wait for death to overcome me.
I was captured and held tied up but I manage to escape up to the roof. They had people all over the building except for the roof, so it was the only option.
I’m almost at the end to cross over to the next building. Yes, I would have to jump but luckily for me it wasn’t too big of a jump.
A bird then came crashing into me and I made the mistake of looking down. My heart was drumming against my chest and It blasted through my ears.
I take another step but my feet miss the edge and I fall.
My hands gripped the ledge tightly, trying to hang on and pull myself up but suddenly black dots start to take over my vision and my eyes closed.
I mean it was only normal, I haven’t eaten and drunk anything for days, possibly 5. But my body has chosen the wrong time to shut down.
I couldn’t hold on any longer so I let go. The wind ruffles my short auburn hair as I fall, floating in the vast air.
Eventually, my body landed on the cold ground with a thud and that was it. I was gone.
